Brampton wines Rustenberg vineyard, Stellenbosch,
South Africa
Brampton
represents a range of up-front, fruit-driven varietal wines won immediate
market share in South Africa on its launch in late 1996. Originally seen as a
second label, it soon developed a strong personality in its own right,
reflected in the modern, stylish presentation.
Brampton: origin of a name Brampton's name pays tribute
to champion Jersey bull Brampton Beacon Bloomer, who was imported from Canada
by Peter and Pam Barlow to add vitality to the farm's prize-winning Jersey
herd. Brampton was quick to build brand loyalty in the young professional
market sector.
Brampton wines reflect the inherent fruit qualities of
each wine variety, grapes are harvested at levels of ripeness best suited to
their specific terroir - which provides a wide selection of style tanks for a
fine-tuned final blend. Modern fermentation technology is used to maximise the
fruit expression.
Brampton wines are all tank-fermented, with the reds
going directly to small oak barrels after primary fermentation. Malolactic
fermentation takes place in the barrel where the wine will mature for up to 15
months before bottling.
The range currently comprises five wines, with
a planned release of Viognier and Shiraz in the near future.
